Hot outside, cool inside

--> Update, I tried to publish this Wednesday night, but it did not work <<--

Today it was pretty hot and humid outside, ok lets be honest, it was really sticky outside. Inside the daycare, it was a nice cool 70 degrees with little humidity! One of the dogs that was loving the indoor weather was Ember (in the picture). I don't think Ember is a huge fan of the heat, she will run outside just long enough to do her "business" and then run back inside and find her place on the table or the couch. Then when the time is right Ember will open up and start running around the play area with the other dogs.

Hope everyone stays cool.

Kato the enegizer bunny

Say hey to Kato, who has so much energy each time he runs through the front door, we can't get him into the daycare fast enough. Kato plays almost all day long, but I did catch him taking a small nap one day for a few minutes.

Sorry that this is a short blog post. Trycia and I were out of town this weekend in Wisconsin visiting her family. Our staff did amazing this past weekend, even with the wild weather. I don't think we have ever talked about our severe weather plans with the dogs. We do have plans in place to make sure the dogs are safe. If there is severe weather in the area, a member of the staff will spend the night with the dogs and monitor the weather. Should it ever become more extreme, we have other plans in place to keep the dogs save (I don't want to bore you with all the details). We always receive weather alerts from the National Weather Service for extreme heat, tornados, flash floods, blizards, ETC. One final measure we have in place is an agreement with other daycares and boarding kennels in the area so we can bring our dogs to their facility should something happen to the building (they can also bring their dogs to us). These places have similar entrance requirements and this is ment for EXTREME situations.. Again, we never like to think this way, but have everthing very well mapped out should something ever come up. Should you ever want to know more, just ask.

Have a great day!

Foster Dog Update: Ruby

With the amount of rain we have had today, I find myself sitting on our couch going through emails and I just came across this one from a few days ago.

As some of you might know, we always foster 2 dogs for Pet Haven at our doggy daycare. This is one way that we give back to the dog community. I just received an update on one of our foster dogs, Ruby who is doing great and has a great home! I love when we get updates like this! You can read the complete update on Pet Haven's Blog.

Have a great weekend!

Murphy and Satchel

Wow, what a day to take off. Trisha and I decided to take today off so we could visit the uptown art fair, and well, it has rained all day. Why does that always happen? When you take a day off work, the weather is always bad. Oh well. I did stop into the daycare to get a few things done this morning. We are going to be getting a new parking lot soon, and I was calling companies to get prices for the work. I called one, gave them our address and found out that the guys dog comes to us for his Hotel stays. How funny is that. Once he told me his name, I knew his dog's name. How many daycare owners can do that??? So long story short, he is going to come out next week and price out the work. Kinda random, don't ya think. The way I found his business was by viewing his reviews on Yelp.com! Seriously though, I really do like to support people that support us.

In the picture Satchel (yellow lab) and Murphy (vizsla) are best friends. They have a great time playing when they are at doggie daycare.

Have a great weekend. The weather should be great, sunny and 91! So enjoy a warm day with your pooch!!

The Head Tilt!

One of my friends sent me this video of the pugs turning their heads. I think it is really cute when you talk to a dog and they understand what you are saying. Our dog Roxy, knows the following words.... Dog Park, Bindi (her BFF), Stormy (her boyfriend), Walk, Car Ride, Swimming, Lake, Boo-Boo's and a few others. This made me think, what is the most random word that your pooch knows? I have a good friend who had to spell Frosty Paws because everytime they said it the dog would run to the freezer, scratch it and wine and whimper until they got one.

One tired pooch

Just a few minutes ago I received a great email from one Hailey's parents. Hailey is a Wheaten Terrier that was at dog daycare yesterday and had a great time.

So we just sent out a tweet to win free daycare on our blog, and it only took 14 minutes for us to get a winner. Wow, that was super fast!! You all should be working rather than tweeting and facebooking ;) Since it was so fast, I think we will do it again soon.

Have a good day!

Name that dog????

It's time for everyone's favorite game..... NAME THAT DOG! Up for grabs... 1 free day of doggy daycare. First person to post a comment with the correct dog name will win (keep in mind that sometimes comments do not publish right away).

The clue... This dog has the same name as a large retail store.

UPDATE>>>> We have a winner, it is Michelle and Dupree with the correct name of Macy! Thanks for playing!

Learning all about pet food.

Today, Trisha and I went to a pet nutrition seminar at Woody's Pet Food Deli which was put on by Dr. Cathy Lund (a vet in lakeville). We already knew lots about different types of pet food, and what is good and bad for dogs and it was great to see a vet's perspective on things. We don't want to push any type of diet for dogs, and believe that it is up to the owners to make an informed choice about what each dog should eat. If you want more information on animal nutrition, you can always email or talk with Trisha (who has a degree in nutrition), or visit Woody's website.

Have a great Sunday.

Naptime is over!

All the smaller dogs really enjoy the new red couch in the playroom. Yesterday, Curley (our resident security staff member) decided that nap time was over and everyone needed to wake up and play. Curley did such a great job of waking everyone up we are going to let him have a walkie talkie and promote him to head of doggy daycare security. This is a huge promotion! Also, today is Curley's first birthday!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Miko

Meko has been boarding the past few nights in our hotel. Today, she enjoyed laying out and catching some sun in our large outside play area. Meko really enjoys hanging out with the smaller and more laid back playgroup.

Good news, good news, Blackberry users. We have a Blackberry app in the works so you can stream the webcams on your PDA. It will work much like our iPhone app. I just checked and we are still the only doggy daycare in the country to have an app, and that is pretty darn cool :)

Have a good night.

Elliot, tiny but playful!

Eliot is another one of the small dogs that has a great time playing at doggie daycare. Elliot has a new brother, Emmit who is a Jack Russell and they are best freinds!

And now the much awaited update on the desk I am putting together in our office. With the help of Bigsby, who is one of our daycare dogs who loves to hang out in our office (he is older and just had surgery so he needs to be calm), the desk is completed. Today I moved the server for the webcams to our new desk. I love having a bigger desk, now it will be easier to get all of our paperwork done :)

Have a great night.

Simon stuck in the tunnel?

Simon (Bulldog) was not stuck in the tunnel, but it looked like he was while he was at doggy daycare today! My favorite part of the video is when he walks out of the tunnel, he just sits down! Too funny!
