Miko

Meko has been boarding the past few nights in our hotel. Today, she enjoyed laying out and catching some sun in our large outside play area. Meko really enjoys hanging out with the smaller and more laid back playgroup.

Good news, good news, Blackberry users. We have a Blackberry app in the works so you can stream the webcams on your PDA. It will work much like our iPhone app. I just checked and we are still the only doggy daycare in the country to have an app, and that is pretty darn cool :)

Have a good night.

Elliot, tiny but playful!

Eliot is another one of the small dogs that has a great time playing at doggie daycare. Elliot has a new brother, Emmit who is a Jack Russell and they are best freinds!

And now the much awaited update on the desk I am putting together in our office. With the help of Bigsby, who is one of our daycare dogs who loves to hang out in our office (he is older and just had surgery so he needs to be calm), the desk is completed. Today I moved the server for the webcams to our new desk. I love having a bigger desk, now it will be easier to get all of our paperwork done :)

Have a great night.

Simon stuck in the tunnel?

Simon (Bulldog) was not stuck in the tunnel, but it looked like he was while he was at doggy daycare today! My favorite part of the video is when he walks out of the tunnel, he just sits down! Too funny!

Can you see some of the changes?

A big, big big shout out one of our dog daycare parents, Amy. Her dog Linus (in the picture) has been attending daycare of about a year, and we started talking in the lobby. She mentioned that she does landscaping and I told her that I wanted to replace the bushes in the front of the building (this is something I had been meaning to do for about 2 months, but got sidetracked). So she put together a great proposal and about 3 days later we have new plantings! I love to support our customers who support us. I told Amy that I would put her contact information on here, so feel free to contact her should you need anything because she is AMAZING!

Amy's Bloomers
- 612-210-9701

Still more changes are in the works for the front of the building.
The other thing I "tried" to accomplish today was to put together our new desk for our office. Have I mentioned how much I dislike putting together Ikea furniture. I have one leg on the desk, and it will now proceed into day #2. Look for a desk update tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Bright and early and ready to rumble

Trixie (pug) is one of our overnight hotel guests and has been with us for about 5 nights. The one thing I will never understand is how some dogs always have LOTS of energy! She plays hard everyday, and then wakes up the next day and has the same amount of energy. This means that she is sleeping great in the hotel! If I was going to the gym for the past 5 days for 9 hours each day eventually I would get tired the next morning. Not Trixie. I know when she goes home she will be tired and sleep for a few days. We call this the "Pampered Pooch Playground hangover".

Stella - Tiny but full of energy

Stella (Yorkshire Terrier) might have been one of the smallest dogs to stay over this weekend in our pooch hotel (also close in size were Kinzer (Pomeranian), Coco Chanel (Chihuahua)). Stella knows how to play great and then go to sleep under some of the play equipment when she is tired and wants to rest.

Today, Trisha and I stopped in for a few hours to check on things and make sure everything was running smooth (which it was, as always). One customer commented about our doggy speed test and suggested we try a few other breeds. Then we headed off to Cirque Du Soleil - Kooza. As always, the show was great and it is only here for a few more nights. If you are looking for something fun to check out, we HIGHLY recomend it.

Take care.

How fast can a dog run?

Yesterday one of our dog daycare customers and I were talking and asked if we knew how fast a dog can run. This afternoon Trisha and I put it to the test with the help of our dog Roxy (Bernese Mountain Dog) and Waffles (Goldendoodle) which is one of our daycare dogs.

Have a good night.

Beer with your Buddy!

Tonight we sponsored Beer with your Buddy which is put on by our friends at the K9 Connection. Our dog Roxy made an appearance and everyone loved her! The weather was perfect for tipping back a cold one with your pooch! The next time we will be sponsoring this great event is in September. Also on hand at the event were Sarah Beth Photography, Scoopy Poo and Michelle from Well Pet Foods. The K9 Connection will be having doga this sunday night and there are a few spaces that are still open.

Tonight our dog Roxy, is having a sleep over with Sarah Beth's dog, Graci. Graci is going to receive a spa day tomorrow, and Sarah has a early photo shoot. So I told her that we could bring Graci into the PPP. Roxy always likes to have friends spend the night.

Have a good night.

Sit Pretty

Bella, the Rottweiler is another regular face around the building and has a great time at dog daycare. Bella gets so excited to come and play the minute she walks through the front door. She is very well trained and always responds to her name, but today I thought it would be fun to show off one of her tricks.

Bella is also obsessed with water. From having it sprayed in her mouth, to playing in the pool, if it involves water, Bella is always there!

Heather just announced a new puppy training class. Make sure you visit the training page for more information.

Have a good night.

Curley's new shirt

Curley (hairless terrier) is one of the dogs that has been spending the night in the hotel. Curley's mom left him with a bunch of shirts and he gets excited each time we put a new one on him. This is his first overnight stay with us and he is doing great!

Today we were shooting a bunch of videos on my iPhone.

Say Hello to Butters

Butters is one of the yorkies that comes to Dog Daycare a few days each week. Butters always hangs out in the small dog playroom, but if it was up to him he would love to hang out with the big dogs. Butters might only be 4 pounds, but he thinks he is HUGE!

Today we have a great mix of dogs and everyone is playing so well. The morning started with rain, but around 10:30 it really cleared up and the dogs are loving the outside area now.

Have a great afternoon!

Roxy's Walk

Today it was so nice out, we decided to take our dog Roxy on a long walk. The Minneapolis Aquatennial celebration was going on at Lake Calhoun, and that is just minutes from our house. So we took Roxy there and took her around the lake. It was pretty hot out, so we had to stop and let her relax in the lake a few times, but she loved it and she received so much attention. One of her favorite things to do is place her paws on the Lake Street Bridge where Lake Calhoun goes to Lake of the Isles. Everytime we walk here there, she always looks over.

We love to hear what your dogs are up to when they are not at Doggie Daycare.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

What a nice surprise

Yesterday I stopped into the doggy daycare for a few hours in the afternoon to make sure everything was going ok (and it was!!). One of the regular faces on the webcams in the small dog playroom is Bigsby, who is an 11 year old Weimaraner who really loves the little dogs. About 2 weeks ago Bigsby's family decided that he needed a sister and they adopted Luna (in the picture). Yesterday Luna came to doggy daycare for the first time and she had so much fun!

Since the weather was pretty bad yesterday I had a bunch of projects that I wanted to work ok. Trycia and I went to Ikea to get some new stuff for the daycare. We decided that we needed a bigger desk for our office. So we checked out, and guess what did not fit in her car?? Yep, the desk, so we had to return it. I knew we should have taken my truck. So now I will be going back this week to pick it up.

Another thing that I worked on yesterday was the webcam page on our website. You will notice some changes and now you don't have to scroll to see the webcams. It took me about an hour to learn how to do this, but hope that everyone likes it. This was also another suggestion from one of our customers (in that survey we sent out to everyone). See we really do listen to your feedback ;)

Hope you have a good sunday!

Penny and some more changes

Penny is one of the dogs that loves to spend the night in the Pampered Pooch Playground Hotel. She spent the past few nights with us we gave her a free bath (which we do for all stays longer than 5 nights). Penny loves the bath, she just sat there and enjoyed getting nice and clean.

Other news around the doggy daycare, I was outside trimming the trees in the play area and all the big dogs thought that it would be fun to help! Many of them wanted to carry the sticks around in their mouth (too bad that I am quick with a clippers and they never got them). Also in maintenance news, The front of the building will have a new look to it. Remember about a week ago when we sent out the survey, a few of you said that you wanted it to be updated. We listened and and are making some changes. Also look for a few more changes around the building in the next few weeks. We really work hard to take everyone's thoughts and ideas and put them together.

Hope you have a great weekend!

It was a great night!

Last night, Sushi with your Poochie with Sidewalk Dog was so much fun! We had our staff of Ash, Erin, Jess and Trisha and Myself painting doggy nails and giving table side massages! Every pooch that came went home super spoiled and with a great goodie bag provided by Urbanimal. We saw so many of or dogs out there that it was so hard to keep track of all of them. In the Picture you see Jess painting Reese Bonkers nails. Reese is one of our Hotel guests and she was there on a date with Bruno so she had to look good. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but honestly I was way too busy working. Our good friend Sarah Beth was there taking pictures, and I will have a link to those really soon. All in all it was a great event and we can't wait to do it again.

Waffles is looking good!

Tonight is a big night for Pampered Pooch Playground. We have the Sushi with your Poochie event which is put on by Sidewalk Dog and sponsored by us. We will be pampering dogs all night long with table side Kuranda dog beds, massages and so painting nails. Waffles is one of our doggy daycare dogs, and we got her all ready for tonight by painting her nails pink. She loves it!! I will have a full report tonight after the event and our good friend Sarah Beth will be there taking lots of pictures.

Have a good afternoon.

Rafa

Rafa is another new puppy face that loves dog daycare. Rafa is a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy and loves to play with fellow ridgeback puppy, Penny. Penny is Nathan's dog who is one of our crew members. Both the ridgebacks love the play hard, but they also play great with eachother!

Today we were really busy getting ready for Sushi with your Poochie which is tomorrow night. We hope that you will be able to join us!

Also, I just added some new pictures to our July photo gallery.

Have a great night.

Moby and JD had fun playing

Our video camera captured Moby (french bulldog) and JD (terrier mix) playing hard in our dog daycare today. Both dogs are regular faces and they play great!

Everyone loves a picture of a puppy!

So we had the cutest little boxer puppy, Macduff come to daycare for his first full day today. I know how much everyone loves to see a puppy so I tried really, really hard to get a picture of him, but he kept moving. There are lots of streaks and smears, but not 1 good up-close picture. So finally took a picture form farther away. So look for Macduff, the boxer puppy in the picture. Maybe when he gets older he will not run around as much ;)

Final reminder.. Sushi with your Poochie is Thursday night and there are only a FEW tickets left. We just had a meeting last night for this event, and it will be so much fun.

Have a good afternoon.

I spy something new

Hmmm.. What is new in the small dog playroom?? It's the new couch! We moved it from the training room today, and the dogs LOVE it! The minute we brought in the big red piece of solid plastic, Simon the bulldog (in the picture) jumped on it and refused to get off. So here I was dragging it around the room trying to find a good spot for it with a 50 pound English Bulldog sitting on it. It was pretty funny! Simon and all of the smaller dogs really love this couch, and we should have moved it in there sooner!

Have a good night.

Why do you need doggy daycare?

I just received an email with this picture attached. The owner was very embarrassed about it and said that if they would have been at Daycare a few times this past week, the broken glasses would have never happened. I guess their dog started to chew them up while they were gone. Chewing and destruction can be a sign up a dog not getting enough exercise. I promised that I would not say which dog did this, but they are a regular face at the ppp and they already made a few reservations for this week.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Boston Play Time

Yesterday 2 of the smaller Boston Terriers (Jack and Gertie) were at daycare and loved playing with each other. This went on for about 20 minutes and we even captured some of the fun on video! Happy Watching!

Liu, the little helper

Lui might only be a puppy but he is already in training to be a companion service dog. Liu is being trained how to pick up dropped keys and other various tasks. This is really cool to see since most of the service dogs are larger breeds! GO LIU!!!!

Oh, just a reminder, tickets are almost gone for Sushi With Your Poochie at Tiger Sushi. It is next Thursday and it will be a great time! Click here for more information and to buy your tickets.

Have a good night.

Whoa! What a weekend!

Since the 4th of July was last Saturday, that meant that the hotel was 100% full. Just a nice reminder, that we really do fill up really fast for any holiday, so it is best to book early (even if you don't know the exact dates. It is so strange to think that just 1 year ago, this is the time that Trisha and I decided that the business had "taken off". Again, we want to thank all of our great customers!

Meet Naiya, who is a golden retriever. She gets so excited that the minute she gets into the lobby she always runs up to us and rolls over for a belly rub, and the belly rub has to last about 3 minutes!! She loves to play with the smaller dogs and she does great with them! I think I mentioned one other time on the blog that we separate the dogs based on size and play style. This means that we put all the small dogs into one catagory, and add some of the larger dogs that enjoy the small dog style of play (these are all dogs that we trust with the little ones).

Oh, one more thing before I go. Have you checked out the new pictures from the 4th of July weekend in the photo album?

Have a good night.

The adventures of Rowdy

Rowdy and his sister Roxy are regular faces around the building. Until today, I never realized how much Rowdy LOVES water! Heather had the dogs outside playing with the hose, and Rowdy loved every minute of it and we made a video of the fun. Rowdy and Roxy's parents are very active with the Minnesota Boxer Rescue and they also run their own pet photography business and Trisha and I are having a photo shoot soon! Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

All ready for the 4th!

Ellie the beagle checked into the PPP hotel sporting her 4th of July collar. Ellie loves to get dressed up for all the holidays!

We are all set for a busy weekend. Today Trisha and I did lots of last minute things to make sure everything is all set for the busy, busy weekend.

Oh, we have a cool new treat for the dogs in the lobby! Check out the new doggy ice cream that we have for sale, it is all natural, and the dogs LOVE it.

Have a good night!

Puggle Craziness

Today, we had a bunch of puggles at dog daycare, 4 to be exact. In the picture are mugsy (left) and Chloe (right), but not pictured are Lucy and Ralph. We really wanted to get a picture of all the puggles together, but try getting 4 dogs to sit next to each other and not move. So we gave up on that idea and I figured it was easier to hold them. The thing about puggles is that they get distracted very, very easily and can't stay still. So this was the best picture we got. Anyway, they had a great time today.

Have a good night.

Sarah Beth Gallery Show

Last week, you might remember me talking about Sarah Beth Photography, and their gallery show they were having at Scoopy Poo. Well, if you missed all the fun, Jay from Fetch Delivers put up some fun pictures from the event on their blog. Click here to see them.

More soon!
