Colby is all clean!

Yesterday I blogged about Missy, who is one of our foster dogs from Pet Haven. Today I felt it was only fair to blog about Missy's BFF, Colby. Colby is also a Pet Haven dog and today he is going to a foster home to give it a trial run! If all goes well, they will adopt Colby! So we had to get Colby all ready to go to his new home, and he enjoyed a bath with our new shampoo and conditioner from Topline Canine. This shampoo rocks and the person that makes it brings their dog to our daycare, so we love to support them!

We are busy getting ready for the walk for the animals this weekend! If you are going to be there, make sure to swing over and say hey! We will be right by the starting line.

Have a great night.

Missy needs a home

Missy is one of the dogs that we are fostering for Pet Haven and she is a super sweet dog! She loves to play and nap with Colby who is also one of our foster dogs. These 2 dogs are seriously best friends. I think that Missy was a little bummed that it was not sunny outside today, because she LOVES to lay out and get a tan! Anyway, we just became the Platinum Sponsor of the Pet Haven Fall Benefit. I can't say enough great things about this great non-profit group and we are proud to help them in any way that we can!

Oh, one more thing.... We just put up our information for our 1 year anniversary party. We would love for you to attend. Click Here for all the details.

Have a good night.

Naptime with Bailey

Bailey, one of the Golden Retrievers decided to take a nap in the "castle". We call Bailey a puppy, but he is a little more than a year old! If you follow us on Twitter, you would have gotten this cute picture sent to you.

I spent the majority of the day with the bigger dogs because one of our staff members was under the weather. All the dogs had so much fun playing inside and ourside (and they can't wait for the larger outside area that will happen very soon).

Have a good night.

Nope, it's not Roxy, it's Bessy

Meet Bessy, who is a Bernese Mountain Dog who is one of our Hotel guests. Bessy checked in yesterday, and we had our dog, Roxy (also a Bernese) in the lobby and they had a quick play session. Both of these dogs have the same play style. Bessy loves playing with the smaller and more laid back pack of dogs.

Today, I had a shopping trip at Urbanimal, which is where we get most of our products in the lobby. You will notice some new toys that are for sale. Some are eco-friendly and some are made in Minneapolis. Just another way we try to go "green".

All the dogs really loved the great weather today. They love being able to lay outside and catch some sun!

This weekend, there might not be too much updating of the blog. Trisha and I are moving into a new house and we will be busy getting ready for the movers on Monday. So if this blog is quiet for a few days, now you know why.

Finally.... Spring!

Eloise is sporting her new spring bandanna for everyone to see! Today she spent the day playing with Hobie who is also a "westie".

Today, one of our customers asked me, how many steps do you take in the morning? Honestly, I am not sure but I want to find out. I am thinking about wearing a pedometer but am thinking about turning it into a contest, "guess the number of steps Keith takes from 6:30am-noon". What do you think? I am sure we can come up with a cool prize for the person that is closest. What do you think??

Have a good night.

Yep, another birthday dog!!

Today is Addison's 1st birthday! Addison is another regular face around Pampered Pooch.

Today is also Earth Day, and I am sure you have seen all the reports on things you can do to go green. It is about time that the mainstream media has finally gotten on the green bandwagon! Did you know that we try to be as green as possible at the daycare?
- 100% recycled flooring in the play areas and training room (it was made from old car tires)
- green cleaning products that are bought in bulk to save on shipping
- energy efficient lighting in the play areas
- we recycle as much as we can (for businesses you pay extra for recycling pick up and many businesses don't want to pay extra for this!)
- biodegradable poop bags that break down at the speed of an apple.
- Some of our new fence for the outside area will be made from recycled material.
- we encourage employees to bring in their own cups for water, tea and coffee.
- Our enrollment forms and printer paper is 100% recycled and we print double sided.
- Our faxes go to our computer, and we can pick if we want to print them our or view them as a .pdf
- and much more!

I bet you never knew that we are "green".

Happy earth day!

Bella finds a new place to nap

For the past few days Otis, a great dane (1 year old) has been trying to figure out how to get into the "castle" in the large dog play area. Today Bella (who we think should be Otis's girlfriend), figured it out and successfully got in. She loves it so much that it is her new favorite place to nap! Good job Bella! Speaking of Great Danes, Sarah Beth one of our favorite photographers is hosting an event at Scoopy Poo and is looking for great danes. For more information on the event you can click here.

Have a great afternoon!

Happy Birthday Jaxon Bear

Today one of our regular faces at doggy daycare, Jaxon Bear turned 1. He brought in lots of treats for all the dogs! Very rarely does Jaxon lay down to rest, but he loves to sit on the table and watch everyone. Yesterday Jaxon celebrated his birthday party with a bunch of friends at his house.

So this morning, I was a few days off! I woke up and watched the Today Show, and saw the green NBC logo and thought today was earth day. So I updated the PPP facebook page and Tweeted all of our Twitter friends about all the ways that we are green. Well, then I remembered that earth day is the 22nd. I was only a few days off, but heck, we are very green and always try to take steps to save the envirnoment. Find out more on the 22nd :)

Have a good night.

Which black lab is this????

Quick, can you name which black lab this is??? Times up! It's Captain! There were so many black labs today and they all had a great day playing! Want me to try to name all the black labs? Here goes... Bear, Brandi, Gunner, Caesar, Captain, Mojo, Bella, Missy, Colby, and I know that there are a few that I am missing!

Today, I think we received the ultimate compliment. We are friendly with some of the other doggy daycare owners in the area, and have agreements should anything happen to any of our buildings or if we ever needed anything. One of the other owners were visiting, and they said "wow, it does not smell like dog in here, how do you guys keep it smelling good". So I take that as a huge compliment! Of course we did not tell them our little secret :)

Tonight I am off to take a tour of the Hearing and Service Dog facility with Ali from Sidewalk Dog. It should be lots of fun to see their location.

Oh, one last thing, yesterday I had that "random thought", here is one for today. Did you know that 99% of people can't lick their elbow??!! Have fun trying!

Cosi gets some sun!

Today was yet another great day where all the dogs enjoyed playing inside and outside. Cosi, the French Bulldog puppy (who turns 1 year old this weekend), loves to catch some rays. Here is a random fact thanks to the Fox 9 morning news today.... It takes 30 minutes to burn outside today without SPF. How is that for a random fact that you never thought you would read on the PPP Blog! Maybe tomorrow I will throw in another random fact.. Ya never know!

I had a meeting with our fence contractor and the ball is rolling on our expanded outside area. The products have been ordered and now we are just waiting for them to be delivered and then they will get to work! I can't wait to double the size of our outside play yard! I know that the dogs are going to love it!

That's all, it is not time to go to take Roxy for a long walk to enjoy this great day!

Bella and Gertie

2 of our Hotel Guests, Bella and Gertie had fun playing with all the dogs today! These guys thought they were king of the castle and had so much fun playing on and around it! I have really started to love this warmer weather and so have the dogs because we take them outside to play and the never want to come back inside!

Next week marks our 1 year anniversary, and we are so excited! We are working on putting the final touches on a party for all of our customers and their dogs. Details really soon :)

Have a good night.

Where are all the dogs?

We had a call from one of our doggie parents today asking why it looked so empty in the play room... It was because all the dogs are loving being outside. Now that the weather is nice out, we are letting the dogs go out for extended periods of time and everyone loves the fresh air. Yesterday both great danes (Otis and Bella) were at daycare and we tried so hard to get them to take a picture with eachother. With a little help from Heather, we were able to do it! We also think that they are boyfriend and girlfriend!

I have some great news to share! We got approval from the city today to expand the outside area. It will be almost double the size and all the dogs will love it. Hopefully the new fencing project can start really soon. We will also we adding a webcam to the outside area so you can watch all the fun.

Have a great weekend!

Bear loves it!

2 weeks ago we added this new piece of play equipment and the dogs LOVE it. Today Bear loved sitting under it and playing with other dogs.

We just added new pictures to the April photo gallery, so make sure you check it out.

Tomorrow afternoon I have an important meeting about trying to expand our outside play area, so hopefully it goes well.

Have a great night and thanks to every one that joined the video chat fun today!

Ranger

Ranger has become a regular face at Doggy Daycare. He is a cockapoo and does great with the big dogs and the little dogs. Today one of Rangers best friends was Leaf who is a black Cocker Spaniel.

I Mondays are really great days to come to daycare because it is even more laid back than the rest of the week.

Just a reminder, if you plan on bringing your pooch in for daycare or hotel service this weekend, make sure you have a reservation because we have lots of dogs staying over for the holiday.

Have a good night.

Sully

Sully comes to daycare a few days each week and always seems to have LOTS of energy. The other day I was actually able to capture Sully resting, because he spent the entire morning playing. Sully is so much fun. Oh, his parents are Chicago Cubs fans, and show their support for the team with a Cubs leash. They better watch out because one day they might go home with a Chicago White Sox leash. HAHA!

Oh, you will now notice that our new front door has finally been installed. YEA!

Have a great weekend!

Berner Crazy!

Today we had 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs at Doggy Daycare. In the picture are Roxy (our dog) and Bessy. Quinn was also at daycare, but was too busy running around to sit and take a picture. Did I mention that Quinn turned 1 year old today! Everyone loved her treats!!

Did you get my April Fool's day joke? I know it was kinda lame, but I tried. When I was in radio we would always come up with clever and new things, but I was lacking this year! If you are on our email list, you know what I am talking about, of you can click here to see it.

This afternoon we did a video chat with customers on my new favorite pastime, dogdaycaretv.com. I was streaming video and responding to questions and just having fun. We plan to keep doing this in the future. If you are our Twitter or Facebook friend we will send you an update about 30 minutes before we do it. Next time, I think i will take the laptop with as we take Roxy for a walk. That will be fun! If you have any ideas, let me know.
